The video installation “Video” (the word ‘video’ comes from Latin and means “I see”) deals with glitches or disruption in video technology and is an expression of the author’s rather troubled relationship with one of his most frequently used media. Video is used in many different ways today, primarily as a means of communication. It is an important component of an increasingly networked world, of surveillance technology, marketing and consumption. It thus contributes significantly to the excessive consumption of natural resources in a culture of abundance. These natural resources are also used in video technology itself. The screens in the installation “Video” are second-hand devices that broke during their first use.
